THREE DOG DAY

Last week was our anniversary. Sweetie and I celebrated by having a "Three Dog Day". No...it has nothing to do with the musical group...or how cold it gets in Australia. Let me explain...Several years ago we decided to go out and do "cool things" one day. You know...hip, urban stuff. Stuff with bandannas and multi-ethnic bracelets and leather sandals and food from Eritrea (it's in Africa!) We went to the local Farmer's Market and noticed that lots of people brought their dogs - bandannas are mandatory of course! Then we noticed that the really "cool, hip" people had not ONE dog...but TWO! Well, you could have seen the light bulb go on above our heads. If TWO dogs were "cool" then THREE dogs would be absolutely "frigid"! Thus was born our term "Three Dog Day"...doing stuff that was cool and trendy, different and new. So last Saturday we "three dogged" it downtown. Once again, we went to the Farmer's Market...lots of dogs AND people! Then we went to a little local bakery and had delicious pastries! Yummy...but a little damaging to the wallet! Then it was off to a incredibly gorgeous garden store with a gorgeous Tibetan bells and a beautiful garden...right in the middle of downtown. Next was a dirty, smelly but oh so "I could do something with THAT" architectural salvage store! Of course, no Three Dog Day would be complete without a trip to the bookstore, then we were off to a new little "strip mall" type Italian restaurant. The owner, recently arrived from Roma, served us huge amounts of food...and the food and Italian conversation were wonderful. A couple of icy Coke's from our local mom-and-pop burger stand and we were "dog tired". If you want to enjoy part of our Three Dog Day...here's the info!
