as i was waiting at the bank drive-thru the other day, i counted a small blessing...the pneumatic tube delivery system!
this modern marvel not only facilitates multiple lines at the drive-thru, thus creating shorter wait times, but it's also dang cool! put your transaction in the carrier, hit the button and after a satisfying "whooosh" it flies off to the teller! the banks that have clear tubes...so you can watch the thing fly!...are especially fun!as i was sitting in the car, waiting for my receipt to come hurtling back to me, i thought whoever invented this was my kind of guy...clever, efficient with just a touch of the magician in him. turns out, after a little research, the pneumatic tube was invented in the early 1800's!!! and it was once envisioned that it would be used to transport people! how fun would that be!? climb into your plastic carrier, latch the door, close the portal, do the little shaky thing as the system pressurizes...then...Whoosh!...you've arrived at the mall! i can hardly wait!
