Wilderness Lore

I wouldn't say that I'm what you would call a

"tree-hugging, camelbak-wearing, Subaru-driving"

wilderness lover.

Don't get me wrong...I love Nature. I love places that are cool and green and leafy.

I know lots of nature stuff because I was raised by a mother that everyone called The Bird Lady.

I spent lots and lots of time with her...hiking, camping and bird-watching.

So some of the stuff she said has stuck with me.

On my hike today, I was reminded about some of the "wilderness lore" that sunk in.

 

Nature has made a wonderful "rule" about berries.

 ALL white berries are poisonous!

All blue berries are edible! (that doesn't mean that they taste good however!)

 And red berries? Well, ya gotta know the difference!
