where does the dirt go? every spring i fill my beautiful raised beds to the top (thank you again sweetie for making 'em for me!) with nice, rich garden soil. and every end-of-summer the garden beds look like this...
depleted...sunken...below grade!so where does that dirt go? if it gets washed out by watering then i should have piles of it around the raised beds...but nope! not there!
i know some of it gets blown, pushed and carted into the window wells on the house. by the way...this is the "project du jour"...scooping out the dirt and gravel in the window wells and putting new gravel down...all the better to collect more dirt!the garden dirt goes into the window wells, and then, since my house is almost 80 years old and lonely...the dirt gets invited in for a loooong visit.
...and ends up here! where it's gathered and moved every week. maybe i should empty all the dust back into the garden...from whence it came!ahh...the circle of dirt!
