snowflake blessings

i am NOT a fan of winter...or snow...or cold! this past month has made me fairly crazy because of snow-fall and cold temperatures. it's been so cold, in fact, that our deep, powdery, white frozen precipitation has fallen in teeny, tiny, minuscule flakes. but...and it's a big but!...they have fallen and fallen and fallen and fallen...(well, you get the idea!) and those barely visible mini-snowflakes have added up to inches and inches of snow and frozen-ness and messy roads and dozens of drive-way shovelings.
which got me to thinking...now, normally i do not look on the bright side. i tend towards worry and panic and seeing the glass not only half empty but probably full of toxic waste too. you might say i am the anti-pollyanna! but as i've been watching those microbial flakes descend and pile up...it dawned on me that the blessings we receive from our Heavenly Father are very similar. small, and loving, miracles and blessings keep falling and falling and falling up on us every day...most of which we barely notice, or sometimes even find "annoying" with our mortal perspective. but at some point we stop and look around...and then we notice the piles and piles of tender mercies we've received from His hand.
my hope is that this year i'll notice and appreciate those teeny tiny blessings more.
