I admit it...I'm an architecturally junky! I LOVE windows, doors and hardware! What attracts me to a house (or even just a picture of one in a magazine or book) is the openings to the world...doors and windows. One of the Marthas just purchased a darling bungalow (built in 1911! hence the artsy sepia tone photo) in a small, rural college town in our state. The Marthas all visited this week and helped her with decorating, refurbishing ideas (it's been empty for 3 years) The house is sooo neat! Almost all original door and window knobs, wooden latch windows (and a transom!...oh be still my beating heart!), a wooden screen door, 12 foot high ceilings, and solid, panel doors. Since it's "bungalow" style, it has built-in wood bookcases (with glass doors and glass knobs!) and large wooden pillars and a row of "school house" coat hooks in the hall. We peeled wallpaper and paint, took down a curtain rod or two, and tried to convince her to paint the walls a rich, muted mustard color. Oh the fun we could have with this place...if we only had months and months of extra time and lots of extra cash!

You crack me up!!!!! This Martha bungalow owner very much appreciated the fact that you all would come up to spend time with her - and she is now full of ideas of how to fix up this place. The art work on the walls left by the Marthas is inspiring me on to get it done!
Thanks
Neat place! I love this type of style!
