Southern Gents and Belles

Sweetie and I just returned from a 9-day,
8-state trip through the South.
Son #2 and Daughter-in-Law #1-and-only live near Dallas, so we visited with them for a few days, then headed out to Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana! Whew! It makes me tired just writing it!
By the end of our trip, we had finally learned how to communicate "Southern-style". The standard Southern greeting goes something like this: "How are ya today [insert Sugar or Hon if you like]?" "Fine...and how are you this morning?" "Blessed...truly blessed!"

We saw lots of wonderful architecture...
cloud reflected on downtown Dallas skyscraper
The Old State House in Little Rock
Beautiful Southern fountain
When we travel, we like to find the "unusual"...we found our fair share on our trip!
Cattle Drive sculpture in downtown Dallas
The "Eiffel Tower" in Paris Texas
site where Bonnie and Clyde were ambushed in Louisiana
birthplace of Tennessee Williams...in Mississippi NOT Tennessee!
We saw lots of battlefields and cemeteries from the Civil War...
Corinth (say it "CAR-inth") Mississippi near Shiloh Battlefield
Vicksburg Battlefield
And, of course, what would a trip through the South be without some good food! We ate our way through border after border of yummy stuff!
Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa Alabama...delish!
The love of my little Southern heart...Waffle House! "I'll have my hashbrowns scattered, covered and chunked!"
Texas BBQ at Rudy's
Getting into our Memphis-Q!
Yes...we were blessed...truly blessed to see the beautiful Southern states and meet some truly nice folks!
Y'all come back!
