a flip of the calendar

i LOVE Thanksgiving! it's a great holiday...all of the joy of family togetherness, all of the yummy food...and none of the pressure to find just the right gift at the mall - with 30,000 other people! but pity poor Thanksgiving...after groundhog's day it's the most neglected holiday of the year! weeks before the 4th thursday of november, stores have christmas items out for sale...with only 4 feet of shelf space for Turkey Day...and that's mostly paper plates and napkins with an occasional pilgrim thrown in. so seeing as i LOVE Thanksgiving and feel sorry for the poor holiday, i rigidly refuse to christmas-it-up before the end of november. granted, my christmas shopping is done (and mostly wrapped) and the christmas cards are addressed and stamped...but the tree doesn't go up and the christmas music doesn't get played and the christmas dvds don't get watched until december. so that's why today, being december 1st, i can finally christmas-up this blog! love Thanksgiving but i LOVE Christmas too! see ya november...ahhh december...the tree's going up next!
