Deep in the Heart of Texas

i just got back from a long weekend down in Texas with Son #2, Daughter-In-Law #1-and-only and Granddaughter #1. luckily it was gorgeous weather there...and cold and snowy/rainy at home! seriously, it's no use going someplace warm and sunny, if it's warm and sunny at home. i mean...how could you possibly "neener" anyone when you say it's 80 degrees in both places!
we ate, we bonded, we watched movies, we hugged and kissed and giggled with Granddaughter #1...and we went to the fort worth zoo.
this little monkey should be on everyone's desk on monday mornings...yeah...work feels like that some days!
tigers, of course, are the "glamor" attractions at the zoo. this bear was totally posing and trying to get all the zoo-paparazzi to notice him and not the tiger snoozing in the grass!
the bluebonnets...and the texans taking pictures of them...were out in full force. wish the "flowers" (aka "weeds") that grew along our freeways were as gorgeous.
there's even a website...http://www.texasbluebonnetsightings.com/ so you can find where they're blooming in your neck of the state.
of course, you can't have a visit from grandma AND a trip to the zoo without getting something. Granddaughter #1 now has official "monkey toes"...cute little monkey socks!
